This is my contribution to Artcrank's show in Boston in 2014. The final application is a 18"x24" 2-color screen print on real nice Neenah paper. Hand printed by James Weinberg in Somerville, MA.
I went through a lot of initial ideas and sketches for this piece, and I've included some of them here. I knew this project was going to be super visible, so I wanted it to be 10X better than anything I'd done at that point. Because of that, I basically tried to do something grand and super detailed and all that jazz and it was stressing me out and locking me up. I was actually drawing the Citgo Sign (a Boston skyline fixture) in Illustrator to use as a template for a different Artcrank concept, but when I finished I thought "hey this could actually be good and not bad." The bicycle was also a template I'd drawn in Illustrator for an even different Artcrank concept. So I abandoned all the other ideas, jammed two sketches together and made something that I'm super proud of.
