"New Bermuda" by Deafheaven is #3 on #JL10x2015
This album blew me away. I read a review where someone said something like, "Deafheaven have captured what it's like to have the extremely varied music taste of a millennial that was raised on mashups and TRL" and that is so true. I love music. A lot. And not just one kind of music—I love Drake and Rihanna and Slayer and Converge and Weezer and Bon Iver and e v e r y t h i n g. Deafheaven is transcendental black metal (I guess), but they make me feel like I'm listening to so much more than that—they make me feel like I'm hearing everything. I can't get enough of this album. The opening song, "Brought to the Water," is the best track of the year. And "Baby Blue" is def in the top 5.
Also, interviews and behind the scenes stuff with them is so refreshing because they seem so normal and free of all that elite bullshit that is so prevalent in metal (especially black metal). It makes me like them as a band even more. Lots of stuff on YouTube. Def look it up!
