"Payola" by Desaparecidos is #5 on #JL10x2015
Man, how can I express my love for Desaparecidos? This Saddle Creek supergroup came out with an album when I was in high school and it was everything I ever wanted to say: "Starbucks is lame. Societal norms pertaining to marriage are depressing. Suburban sprawl is bad. Etc." Well, I grew up and so did Desaparecidos. Their first album in over ten years, Payola, is saying everything I want to say again: "US politics are totally fucked. Communism is good. War is futile. Xenophobia has no place in the US. And auto-tune is bad (lol)." Listening to this album made me feel nostalgic but also like I was connecting with something brand new. It also introduced me to Camila Vallejo—a communist politician in Chile. I still don't know a ton about Vallejo, but the song they wrote for her always gives me chills/tears.
Also, yes, I'm a Pinko. Deal wif it m8.
